What Vehicle Types Are Nitto Nomad Grappler Tires Best For?

Nitto is a high-quality, tier-one tire manufacturer, and its Ridge Grappler model has been one of our highest-selling tires because its reputation precedes itself. That's no different with Nitto's new Nomad Grappler.

The Nomad Grappler is designed specifically for the crossover and SUV market for those whose vehicle often sees dirt or gravel roads but needs a tire that can still hold its own on the road. We've seen more and more of these types of hybrid light-duty tires becoming more prevalent in the Overlanding and adventurer communities just over the last couple of years. As the market grows and grows, eventually the top models will rise to the forefront of the market, and we fully expect Nomad Grappler to do so.

Load Index and Load Range of the Nitto Nomad Grappler

So what is it exactly that makes this the Nomad Grappler a specifically-designed CUV/SUV tire? The two biggest things are the sizes they're available in and the load index and load range ratings that they offer.

We have 25 different available Nomad Grappler sizes in our store, and their sizes and load ranges make them perfect for top crossovers from Subaru, Toyota, Honda, Kia, Ford, GM, and many other popular manufacturers.

The load ranges and load indexes for the Nomad Grappler are in the XL category, which stands for "extra load weight" capacities when compared to a standard load size for regular passenger tires.

Design and Tread Compound of the Nitto Nomad Grappler

Due to the nature of the vehicles it works best on, the Nomad Grappler tire's construction will be a bit stronger than regular passenger tires, and will have thicker sidewalls that are more resistant to punctures and cuts. This, along with the ability to handle extra weight for carrying camping gear, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, tents, and even additional trailer tongue weight, makes the Nomad Grappler a versatile and strong option.

As far as the tread compound and design of the tread go, they're not too much different from what a hybrid tread design traditionally looks like. And the compound is designed for severe winter weather driving conditions too - these tires are tested and have passed the 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake rating certification, meaning that the tread compound isn't as likely to get hard and brittle in colder temperatures. It maintains its adhesion properties better than a standard passenger tire with an M Plus S rating too.

Combine all this with a tread design that offers plenty of siping large valley grooves for evacuation, as well as a variable pitch center tread pattern with aggressive center tread blocks, and the Nomad Grappler can take you into the most remote locations and over the gnarliest terrains, all while still having respectable on-road manners. The tires look pretty cool too, especially with the aggressive sidewall tread - there are two different sidewall designs that you can choose depending on your taste.
