New Features and Specs on The Redesigned 2024 Toyota Tacoma
Off-road enthusiasts across the country know Toyota for the rough, rugged, durable, and fun trucks and SUVs that the brand has consistently produced for generations, and the Tacoma is no exception. In fact, it's usually been the flagbearer for everything that off-roaders want from their trucks, from solid and functional design to a strong, long-lasting engine and drivetrain that can tackle any obstacle ahead. But if you haven't heard already, Toyota looks to be shaking things up for the Tacoma in a major way for the upcoming model year.
We recently got our first look at the 2024 Toyota Tacoma and the initial reviews have been divisive, to say the least. Some people love it, some people are floored, but above all there's no denying that there's quite a lot to talk about on this all-new, redesigned truck. Engine and Powertrain Options Available on the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma
One of the main selling points of the all-new Tacoma truck is that it's doubling down hard on the Toyota lineup of i-Force turbo engines. The 2024 Tacoma will have four engine options available, each of them turbocharged with plenty of power to speak of. We've listed each of the Tacoma's new engine options below with horsepower, torque ratings, and standard transmission.
| Engine | Horsepower | Torque Output | Transmission |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base 2.4-liter I-4 Turbo* | 228 hp | 243 pound-feet | 8-speed automatic |
| i-Force 2.4-liter I-4 turbo | 270 hp | 310 pound-feet | 6-speed manual |
| i-Force 2.4-liter I-4 turbo | 278 hp | 317 pound-feet | 8-speed automatic |
| i-Force MAX 2.4-liter turbo hybrid | 326 hp | 465 pound-feet | 8-speed automatic |

That's not all, though - the 2024 Tacoma will also have a wealth of options available to help you out on the trails. You'll have the choice of either a 4x2 option with an automatic limited-slip differential or a 4x4 with a two-speed transfer case, traction control, and rear e-locker. Higher Tacoma trims will have a center diff lock and optional electronic front stabilizer bar disconnect too, helping with articulation.

Suspension Specs and Features For The 2024 Tacoma Trailhunter
Serious Toyota enthusiasts are probably looking at the Tacoma's Trailhunter trim and salivating, because the laundry list of specs that it'll bring to the table are pretty much endless, if not exactly what you've been looking for. The 2024 Trailhunter will bring the following to the table and more:
- 2.5-inch monotube shocks
- Bed utility bars
- 33-inch Goodyear Territory R/T tires
- Rigid LED fog lamps
- Steel skid plates
Along with this, most new 2024 Tacoma models will feature a brand-new multilink, coil-spring suspension system that represents the biggest change to the truck's chassis design in years. But, if you're more of a fan of the leaf spring design more typical of these trucks, those will be available right out of the factory - and in our store.

What Wheels and Tires Will Fit On The 2024 Tacoma?
Like many other trucks in the Toyota lineup, the 2024 Tacoma will come standard with 17-inch wheels and 30-inch tires, at least on its TRD trim, which is most likely the one you'll want if you're looking to do some hardcore off-roading in the near future.
