2025 Toyota 4Runner Engine Options and Power Output
You'll have two available powertrains to choose from on the 2025 4Runner, though one option looks way more fun. We'll start with the lesser of the two, at least as far as power output is concerned - it's a single 2.4-liter four-cylinder that can produce 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque.
Of course, the big boy in the 4Runner lineup is the i-FORCE MAX engine, which pairs up with a hybrid powertrain that's becoming quite commonplace throughout Toyota's lineup. This powertrain pairs the i-FORCE engine with a 48-horsepower electric motor that's integrated into the transmission system - this gives the 4Runner a full capability of 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque when fully equipped.

How Does The 2025 Toyota 4Runner Do Off-Road?
You're here because you want to see how the 2025 4Runner will do on the roughest terrains, and to answer in a word: it dominates. There are plenty of available suspension upgrades to the 4Runner for the new model year, the most notable of which is a Stabilizer Bar Disconnect Mechanism that can increase suspension articulation whenever you want. When combined with the 4Runner's multi-terrain monitor, you can adjust the 4Runner in real time to tackle obstacles when they pop up.
Along with this, the 4Runner is available with an automatic limited-slip differential, two-speed transfer case, traction control, and a bunch more. If you opt for TRD models or the 4Runner's brand new Trailhunter trim, you'll also get an electronic-locking rear diff for good measure.
A couple more notable features on the 4Runner for 2025 are a new, quieter CRAWL control and Downhill Assist Control, both of which can help you in limiting the speed of your vehicle when climbing and descending tricky terrains.

Overlanding Capabilities of 2025 Toyota 4Runner Trailhunter
There are nine trims (called grades from the OEM) on the 2025 4Runner, and brand new for the model year is one exclusively dedicated to overlanding. That's the new 4Runner Trailhunter, which was developed in conjunction with some of the top overlanding brands in the business.
The Trailhunter features ARB OME forged shocks, external piggyback remote reservoirs, and a low-profile, high-mount air intake to source cleaner air for the engine. Also, with some additional skid plates, rock rails and other protective elements including RIGID fog lamps, the 4Runner Trailhunter is definitely designed to take you further off the beaten path with comfort and safety as top priorities. A nice touch for sure.

2025 Toyota 4Runner Trailhunter Tire Size Fitment
The 4Runner Trailhunter will also come equipped with larger tires out of the factory to give it a larger, more in-charge profile than on other typical 4Runner trims you're used to. It'll come with 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T tires off the lot, which boosts it up almost two inches in height on both sides of the model. We don't blame you, though, if you want to get some new wheels and tires swapped when this SUV becomes yours.

When Will The 2025 Toyota 4Runner Be Released In America?
With a 6,000-pound towing capacity to top it all off, the 2025 4Runner promises to be an absolute monster on the trails and the road, no matter which of its nine trims you opt for. And the good news is that you won't have to wait too long if you want it to be yours.
The 4Runner will be coming to dealership lots in fall 2024, so you only have a couple months to save up those pennies - if Toyota is able to deliver on what it promises for this new model, we'd consider the 4Runner a purchase that's absolutely worth it.
