Is The Nissan Frontier PRO-4X A Good Off-Road Vehicle?
First, the specs - after all, if you're new to the game we don't want to sell you on a truck that can only manage a mid driving experience. Under the hood, the Frontier PRO-4X offers a naturally-aspirated V6 engine that can produce 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque, shifted through a nine-speed automatic transmission. Elsewhere on the powertrain is a gearbox with selectable rear-wheel or four-wheel drive modes, the latter of which also comes with high and low ranges.
As far as rigs go, the Frontier PRO-4X is pretty standard out of the box, but sometimes that's all that's needed to have a fully-capable build. It offers a locking rear differential, shocks built exclusively for off-road usage, underbody skid plates, and some cool red accents throughout the body that add some aesthetic appeal to the whole shebang. With all that in mind, if you want to get yours modded, what should you go with?

Current-Gen Nissan Frontier PRO-4X Wheel Bolt Pattern and Stock Sizes
Onto the wheel specs - the newest edition of the Frontier PRO-4X comes standard with 17x7 wheels arranged in a 6x114.3 (6x4.5) bolt pattern, one of the most common for trucks in today's market. The PRO-4X also comes with P265/70R17 tires to wrap around the wheels, and while both are fully capable sizes, we know that you'll probably be itching to get a new setup on your truck ASAP.

Our Recommendations For Nissan Frontier PRO-4X Wheels and Tires
Since the Frontier PRO-4X is an off-road-first vehicle, you'll want to stick with a small wheel/big tire combo that most guys will be running. We'd recommend setups in the following sizes if you plan on keeping your PRO-4X close to stock or running it with a leveling kit:
- - 17x8 wheels | 285/70R17 tires
- - 17x8.5 wheels | 33x11.5 tires
- - 17x8.5 wheels | 285/70R17 tires
In general, stick at 17 inch wheels and 33's for your tires and you should be good to avoid any rubbing or scrubbing in the wheel wells. If you want to lift your PRO-4X, however, we've seen builds with 20x9.5 wheels, although with the same 33-inch tires to keep the profile the same.
