The second generation of any truck model is when it really begins to hit its stride, or fall off the face of the earth entirely. Bolt Pattern & Recommended Fitment Specs For The Second-Gen Toyota Tacoma
Before we jump into our favorite builds, let's talk about the recommended fitment specs on Tacoma models released from 2005-15:
Bolt Pattern:
6x139.7mm: This is the standard bolt pattern for all second-gen Tacomas (2005-2015) equipped with 4WD or PreRunner models. Think of it like the key to fitting your wheels onto your truck.
Recommended Wheel and Tire Fitment Range:
This is where it gets a bit more interesting, as it depends on your specific goals and modifications:
- Stock: If you're keeping your Tacoma mostly stock, you can stick with the factory wheel size and offset. This will typically be 16" or 17" wheels with a positive offset.
- Mild Off-Road: For some light trails and dirt roads, 17" wheels with a slightly more aggressive offset (around 0 to -12mm) can give you a wider stance and allow for larger tires without rubbing.
- Serious Off-Road: If you're hitting tougher trails and want maximum clearance, you'll likely want to go with 16" or 17" wheels with a more negative offset (around -12mm to -25mm). This will push your wheels out further and allow for even larger tires.
Tire Size:
Your tire size will also play a role in fitment. Generally speaking, you can fit up to a 33" tire on a stock Tacoma with some minor trimming. If you've lifted your truck, you can go even bigger, although we'd still recommend staying around 33 inch tires and getting a more aggressive wheel offset instead.
