2003-06 Ford Expedition Wheel, Tire & Suspension Fitment Guide

Do you have a Second Gen Ford Expedition manufactured between the years 2003 and 2006 or are looking to purchase one with the end goal of customizing it to your liking, but aren’t sure where to start? If you answered yes to either question, then have no fear because we at TrailBuilt Off-Road are here to assist you along this journey. We’ll help you find the right equipment that suits the needs of your Expedition and look good while doing so.

Ford’s second iteration of the Expedition unveiled drastic improvements in ride comfort over the first model, such as the debut of the independent rear suspension, which was the first of its kind for a full-size American SUV. This made it more capable on uneven terrains, and improved ride and control quality. This model Expedition was also rated to tow more than the previous version, up to 8,900 lbs.

Stock Wheel & Tire Fitment on the Second Generation (2003-2006) Ford Expedition

The Second Gen Ford Expedition rolled off the lot with a 17x7.5 wheel size and 265/70R17 tire, not to mention a 6x135 bolt pattern. Because of this, it's important to remember when searching for wheels, you’ll want to find some that match this pattern - otherwise you’ll need an adapter.

33” or 35” tires are common on these builds to go along with 17x8 or 17x9 wheels, but for more flair you could even go with a 20x12 wheel as well - sizing up this high will likely necessitate a larger lift kit though, in order to help you avoid rubbing. A three to four inch lift kit should provide your Expedition with enough height to handle most terrains.
