1999-2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 Wheel, Tire & Suspension Fitment Guide
If you’re looking to make the original Chevy Silverado 1500 your next custom build and want to see different options for wheels, tires and suspensions to get an idea of what you’d like to see most? This guide will be a handy resource to help your build get started in the right direction to make sure your Silverado 1500 is both stylish and built to handle any off-road assignment you can think to give it.
First manufactured in 1998 as a 1999 release model, the maiden voyage of the Silverado 1500 was debuted as a roomier and more aerodynamic replacement for the existing Chevy C/K. The Silverado came in three different cab styles: regular with two doors, extended cab with four doors, and crew cab with four front-hinge doors. It also had three different cargo bed size options to choose from. Chevy released a few variants of the Silverado during its initial release, the most coveted being the special edition Intimidator of the SS variant in 2006 to honor the late Dale Earnhardt.
Stock Wheel & Tire Fitment on the First Generation (1999-2007) Chevy Silverado 1500
The first generation Chevy Silverado 1500 came off the line with a wheel size of 16x7 and a Bolt Pattern of 6x5.5 so you’ll want to make sure that any wheel you want to use on your build fits that pattern, otherwise you’ll need an adapter to make it work. In terms of tires, the original 1500 came in a few sizes, most common were 235/75, 245/75. 255/75 and 265/75.
A lot of the Silverado 1500 models in our gallery are rocking some pretty large tires with their wheels. We’re talking tires between 35-37” to go with wheel sizes between 17x9 and 20x10. With sizes like these, it’ll be crucial to also have the right heights on a lift kit so that the truck has enough ground clearances. We see a lot of 5” and 6” suspensions on this model. This should be more than enough to give you proper height on the trails. Always remember that with lifts this high, it’s important to keep suspension geometry in mind. If your suspension isn’t in proper balance, you can cause massive damage to your rig.
