1994-2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Wheel, Tire & Suspension Fitment Guide
Starting in 1994, the second generation of Dodge Ram 1500 pickup trucks were actually called “1500”. The first generation, which ran from 1981-1993, was previously known as the Dodge Ram 150. The 1500 underwent a major facelift compared to the initial model, it’s “big-rig” semi-truck styled appearance was a huge hit with consumers and it won the 1994 MotorTrend Truck of the Year award. However one of the biggest changes was the removal of the Cummins turbodiesel engine as an option for the 1500. It was available for the previous 150, but by the second generation, was moved exclusively to Ram’s heavy duty 2500 and 3500 options.
A second generation Dodge Ram 1500 (1994-2001) is a well-known and reliable truck that would make an excellent choice as an off-roader when paired with the right equipment. If you own one or are in the market for one and are wondering what combination of wheels, tires and suspension would make this your new favorite build, this fitment guide will be a handy resource to show you what to equip on your second generation Dodge Ram 1500.
Stock Wheel & Tire Fitment On The Second Generation (1994-2001) Dodge Ram 1500
When the renamed Dodge Ram 1500s came fresh off the assembly line, they did so in a tire size of either 225/75 or 245/75 with a wheel size of 16x7. The Dodge Ram 1500 also featured a bolt pattern of 5x5.5 so you’ll want to make sure that any wheel you want to use on your build fits that pattern, otherwise you’ll have to make sure you have an adapter to get it to fit.
When you look through our Gallery, you’ll see a lot of Dodge Ram 1500s built for off-roading that sport a similar combination of 17x9 or 18x9 wheels with 33 or 35” tires with a more aggressive lift kit of 3” or more to give their 1500 a rugged stance that is perfect for handling trails and giving your truck a tough aggressive look. Now as a reminder that if you want to add a higher lift than 3 or 4 inches to your truck, it’s important to keep suspension geometry in mind. If your suspension isn’t in proper balance, you can cause massive damage to your rig.
