Stock Wheel & Tire Fitment for the Fourth Generation GMC Sierra 1500

When it comes to stock wheel and tire options, this version of the Sierra 1500 had quite a few to choose from. If we’re looking at tires, we see it had 255/70, 265/70, 265/65, and 275/55 sizes available. Wheels, on the other hand, came in 17x7.5, 17x8, 18x8, and 20x9 sizing. The bolt pattern that came on the fourth gen Sierra is a 6x5.5 pattern, which is very important to remember when looking at custom wheel options. You’re going to want to make sure that any wheels you’re looking to buy fit that pattern. If they don’t, you’re going to need to use an adapter in order to get the fit you’re looking for.

If you’re looking for the right combination of wheels and tires to give your Sierra the maximum performance in off-roading, you’re going to want bigger tires and smaller wheels. If you look at other Sierra 1500s in our gallery, they all share this common theme. We see a lot of tires that start at 33 inches in height and go up to around 37 inches typically. Take those and combine them with wheels that range from 17-20 inches in diameter, and you have your ideal setup for the trails. Now the ideal off-roading setup will typically feature either a leveling kit or a lift kit of 3 inches or higher in height. This gives your ride the proper ground clearance it needs to avoid obstacles and protect the components under your truck. One thing to keep in mind with taller suspensions however, is your suspension geometry. Before hitting those backroads, you’ll want to make sure everything is properly aligned, otherwise you run the risk of causing massive damage to your rig’s suspension.
