Stock Wheel & Tire Fitment for the First Generation Ford F-250

When it came off the production line, the only wheel and tire size options for the Ford F-250 were either a 235/85 or 245/75 for tires and a 16x7 or 17x7.5 for wheel sizing. The bolt pattern for the F-250 is 8x170, which is crucial to remember when you’re looking at different wheel options for your truck. You need to make sure that any wheel you’re considering for your build fits that pattern, otherwise you’re going to need to use an adapter in order to get the correct fit.

In order to take full advantage of your Ford F-250’s off-road capability, you’re going to want to run bigger tires and smaller wheels on your build. For wheels think 35-40 inch tires in height combined with wheel sizes that can fall anywhere between 17-20 inches in diameter. This combo will give you the proper ground clearance and protect the wheels from the damage that tougher off-road terrains can dish out. Combine that with a suspension lift of four inches or higher, and you’ll have the right height and weight distribution to be unstoppable on the trails. Just make sure that you’re keeping your suspension geometry in mind with a taller suspension lift. If not properly aligned, you’ll cause massive damage to your rig’s suspension and no one wants that to happen.
