We get asked this question all of the time: are light bars legal? Read on to find out.
Are they Legal?
In short, well yes and no. It is all dependent on the state in which you live. For the majority of states, it is legal to have one on your rig, but you just can't have it on while you are on the public road. Some states require you to also cover the light bar while you drive on the road as well, but not all states. Some have requirements on where the light bar can be or how many you can have. So just look up your specific state laws on that. When you are off-road, though, you are free to use them as you please which brings us into our next topic.
Why get a Light Bar?
So if there are all of these restrictions then why bother even getting a light bar? Well, first of all, it can prove to be an invaluable asset when you are going off-roading. This is because you may need more visibility when things get crazy, messy, or dark when you are on rough off-road terrain. For safety reasons, a light bar becomes really important. It also makes for a great accessory aesthetically when you are trying to perfect your overland vehicle. It is practical and it looks really nice too. It is also a really easy modification for your rig that makes a big difference and that doesn't cost very much at all starting as low as $180.
