Table of Contents
What is an Off-Road Bumper?
An off-road bumper is a replacement for your OEM front or rear bumpers. There are tons of brands on the market that offer off-road bumpers.
We would recommend taking a look at Body Armor, Rough Country, Addictive Desert Designs, Road Armor, and Teraflex. We offer all of these on our site here at TrailBuilt Off-Road. Most Off-road bumpers are made of steel.
Why Would I Get an Off-Road Bumper?
Off-roading can get really rowdy and even dangerous, you want to be as best equipped as you can. OEM bumpers aren’t very durable and can't handle the amount of stress that comes with off-roading. My OEM bumper was cracked, scratched, and dented before I upgraded to aftermarket bumpers.
The fact of the matter is that OEM bumpers aren’t meant to handle the stress of off-roading. The next reason you should get an off-road bumper is to have more recovery points. Some bumpers have winch mounts, clevis hooks, or shackles that make it easy to get yourself out of dangerous situations where you may need to get towed. You will also get more ground clearance with an aftermarket bumper too.
Price of Off-Road Bumpers
Bumpers can vary in price quite a bit. They are a really large product and can cost quite a bit, so be sure you found the right one. Our prices for bumpers range from as low as $200 up to over $3,000. The size, amount of steel, weight, and performance will play into the price.
Weight of Off-Road Bumpers
Since these are usually made of steel, they will be exceptionally heavy. Most that get an aftermarket bumper will get a lift kit or even a leveling kit to offset this weight with some extra height so that you don’t droop. This is just another thing to take into account.
