Toyota Highlander Wheel, Tire & Suspension Fitment Guide

When you picture high-quality off-roading vehicles from the Toyota lineup, what comes to mind? For most of you, you're probably looking at typical options like the Tacoma or 4Runner, but what if we told you there's another promising candidate for your adventures out there, with a bit more tech innovation and modern styling up its sleeve?

Today we're looking at the Toyota Highlander to see what wheels and tires best fit this model for your off-road needs - now, let's get the elephant out of the room real quick. This should not be your first choice if you're trying to build an off-roading rig from scratch; some other purpose-built models like the 4Runner or Jeep models will probably do you much better. But Highlanders still have quite a bit of value to bring to the table if you're planning on some light dirt road excursions, camping trips and other adventures like this.

With that out of the way, if you have a Highlander in your driveway that you're looking to build, we're here to help. Join us below as we show you what fits this top-selling crossover best.

Stock Wheel & Tire Fitment Options For The Toyota Highlander

The Highlander has a pretty basic wheel profile as far as stock options are concerned. Off the lot, you can expect 8-wide wheels in diameters between 18 and 20 inches tall, compatible with a 5x114.3mm bolt pattern that's customary on most other vehicles in the Toyota lineup.

Tires are a similar story, as the standard sizes you'll get on the newest (2024) Highlander model are 235/65 (matched with 18-inch wheels) and 235/55 (with 20-inch wheels). That's not gonna do it if you plan on using your Highlander for more dedicated off-roading (or soft-roading, as you'll probably see it referred to) work, so we'd recommend sizing up for these purposes. Many of the aftermarket Highlander builds we see drivers make will include bigger tires, around 31-32 inches tall.
